Does the new time-of-flight camera in the Kinect v2 allow outdoor depth sensing? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is IR interference still a problem for the new time-of-flight camera on the Kinect V2?

  • Ambient IR has a much lower impact on the IR capabilities of the sensor, but the sun still overpowers its emitters. The sensor will work better in indirect sunlight than the original sensor, but sill can't function effectively in direct sunlight.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

  • Hi,

We are using both Kinect v2 and Vicon motion capture system at the same time, it seems Vicon infrared emitters induces disturbance and interferes with kinect v2 depth sensor! sun effect has omitted and the room is only lightened with normal lights.

Is there a way to omit infrared interference between these two devices?!

    Thanks,

    Alireza
