  • hi,

    whey Sometimes for log in on sql server must use   "Computername\SQLServerName"  and somewhere use
    just computer or ip of that computer for login to sql server on network ?

  • why sometimes  when i use Computername\SQLServerName dont login and i must use just ip or Computername for login as server name?
    is this optionally ? if yes where is this option until i change it?

  • The use of Computername\SQLServerName is known as a named instance.  You can have multiple instances on the same computer.

  • In that case, you have what is called a Default Instance.  There can be, at most, one default instance per server.
