User Login Change and Report Server User ID RRS feed

  • Question

  • We're in the middle of a user login change.  Instead of machine names we're using firstname.lastname.  So far it's okay, but we've run into an issue with Reporting Services.  If you look up the Users in the report server db, the UserName field hasn't change.  Now, because it's not a new user ID, the sid doesn't change.  But what's happening is if we create a report, the creator is still this old user ID, which creates a response email of that old user ID@ our domain, which fails.

We can probably change that field, but we're more interested in why Reporting Services didn't update that UserName field, and if we can force it or resync it?  The server it's on (or the services) haven't been restarted.

Apologies if this is the wrong forum.

  • Hi Ben,

From my point of view, SSRS doesn't check this username to data in database in-time for resource-wise consideration.

This synchronization will be automatically done every time the SSRS is restarted.

So in a shot word, to resync it, we need to manually stop and restart the SSRS using Reporting Service Configuration Manager, OR after one RAM recycle time(it is by default 720 min in rsconfig.config) it would be automatic resync.

    Hope this is helpful.

    Regards,

    Lukas

  • So if we just restarted the SQL Server Reporting Service, would that be the same as doing it from the Conf. Mgr?

I think it's been 720 minutes since we did the name change, and it doesn't seem to do it on its own.

  • Hi Ben,

720 minutes is the default setting in rsreportserver.config file.  You could check the value by searching "recycle" in the file.

Yes, you could also try restarted the RS service, it should have same progress .
