    Try

    Data Source=serveraddress;Initial Catalog=myDataBase;User Id=myUsername;Password=myPassword;

    If it does not work

     Visit www.connectionstrings.com

    They have everything on a connection string. I am sure you will find a connection string you want.

    Thanks

    Hi, and welcome to ASP.NET Forums

    Check this link for connectionString settings http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bf7sd233(vs.80).aspx

    <connectionStrings>
       <add
          name="LocalSqlServer"
          connectionString="data source=.\SQLEXPRESS;Integrated Security=SSPI;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|aspnetdb.mdf;User Instance=true"
          providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"
       />
    </connectionStrings>

    The data source attribute specifies the location of your database. If your database is on another server, just provide the IP address of that server as the data source.

    Thanks

     thanks...   this is the connection string in the example and that seems to be for a file attachment not a remote database...

    thanks all the same though!!
