SharePoint 2013 workflow issue RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a SharePoint 2013 workflow. It creates or updates a Word document after users save a SharePoint item. It works most the time. However, it cannot create the Word document once a while. I do not see the Word document in the document library. When I did "save" on the SharePoint item one more time, it still cannot create the document which seems remember the item number. What I have to do is to open SharePoint designer, save the workflow (without any change) and publish the workflow. Now, when I save the SharePoint item again, it will create the Word document. I want to see if someone else have this issue and how to solve the issue. Many thanks for your help.

  • Hi eg10013,

I did the test but couldn't reproduce your problem.

If you run the workflow manually, will it create a document?

You can check the workflow history to see if there is an error information.

In addition, do you use workflow 2013 or 2010? You can copy the workflow and try a different version.

    Best regards

  • For you to use SharePoint 2013 Workflows it requires Workflow engine to be configured and registered with you SharePoint farm, check below article for how to configure workflow manager.

  • Hi eg10013,

If you don't get any error information in workflow history , but the workflow just doesn't trigger.

I still recommend that you recreate this workflow, even if you still use the workflow 2010 version.
