A deceptive warning sign on every page (status bar)  RRS feed

  • Question

  • Using EW4 on Windows 7

    URL: www.yashodharman.in

When I open almost any existing (not new) page in design view I notice the yellow triangle with exclamation mark at the bottom status bar

    • I run compatibility checker and I get no error
    • I click at go to error but nothing in result
    • I go to the code view and the warning sign automatically disappears
    • I save the page selecting the radio button for "keep all changes"
    • I move to some other page and the same story
    • I return to the earlier page which was saved (when warning sign disappeared after going to code view) to find no warning sign; I wait for few seconds looking at it and the warning sign shows up!

I go to code view and "Reformat HTML" and the warning sign disappears

    • I save the page selecting the radio button for "keep all changes"
    • I move to some other page and the same story
    • I return to the earlier page which was saved (when warning sign disappeared after going to code view) to find no warning sign; I wait for few seconds looking at it and the warning sign shows up!

  • If I download/open your page in EW4, I don't get any errors whatsoever......so I can't replicate the issue you're getting.  Even the W3C Validator found no errors.....so that's a good thing.......

However, the validator really only checks HTML/CSS and not necessarily javascript coding errors or anything.  Regardless, I still cannot replicate the error you have reported above.

The validation report does report "warnings" but as such is not "invalid" or "non-compliant" code.  You might wan to take a look; maybe that is what EW is flagging with the yellow triangle/exclamation.  It seems to be saying that some attributes/styles are done as inline (or in-page <style> block in the <head>) as well as in the External CSS.  I could be mistaken; maybe someone well versed in  CSS  can interpret the 'warning' messages.
