Possible to connect Access O365 back to onprem SQL server? RRS feed

  • Question

  • If you deploy an Access database to Office 365/Online is there anyway to connect back to an OnPrem SQL server?

If you deploy Access it moves it to an SQL Azure database right?  (Not standard SQL Server like SQL server 2008 was on a dedicated server but the Azure SQL platform as a service)

Is there anyway to call back to a "normal" SQL server to run a stored procedure?

    Has anyone done this?

    Thanks!

Answers

  • an Access Web App - can be deployed to a 365 account...and the 365 technology is relying on the Azure technology

there is no way to connect that to a local/on premise SQL Server file

one does not deploy an Access Web App directly to the Azure service as it is of course a SQL Server and the Access Web App requires a web server

the Access Web App has features equivalent to the SQL Server stored procedure in regard to such things as Table Macros - but one does not directly manage the underlying SQL Server technology as the idea of the Access Web App is to encompass that
