Project Server 2010 - Alert Team members on completion of task dependency RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Is it possible to check if a task has a dependency and to notify the Team Members of the successor Task upon completion?

For example, Task B is dependent on Task A. When Task A is complete, alert all Team Members involved in Task B.

Thank you for you time and help.

    Regards,

    D

  • Hi D,

Please see below thread which has methods to find the Successor/predecessor
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sk/project2010custprog/thread/250cecc7-4458-4bb9-a0d4-4cada0653954

Once you find the Successor/predecessor Task UID & get the corresponding ASSN_UID from assignment table , based on completion of tasks, can notify the resources.

    Hope that helps.

  • Hi Amit,

I understand that Project Server has some limitations in terms of API where only MS Project has access to. Is my requirement achievable through .NET Service application?

    thanks for your advice.

  • Hi D--

Yes, You can write the .NET code in PSI to get the all task related information (Successor/predecessor Task UID , % complete) & based on the logic, can send email alert to resource.

Project Server PSI las limitation but your requirement can be done using PSI project web sevrice.
Please see below article to understand the limitations:

Hope that helps .. Good luck
