Problems using SSH to connect from Vista to a server RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello. I'm relatively new to using SSH, and I'm having a problem I do not know how to diagnose.

I need to open an SSH connection to our local server from my Vista laptop. Using PuTTY, I select the SSH option and attempt to connect. The window opens, but nothing is displayed, and it shuts down with a network connection error.

On the same network, using an XP laptop, this procedure works fine.

I've tried turning off the windows firewall, but that does not seem to make a difference.

Are there any diagnostic tools I can use to see what's going on underneath the hood?

  • I am also experiencing this problem.
I have multiple Vista VM's running on a single hypervisor.
They all have their firewalls disabled and openSSH installed.

I am not able to SSH to any other machine nor am I able to SSH from my laptop to these machines.

Any actual help from MS would be appreciated.
