Outlook 2010 using OLE fails to save .asc files and throws 80020009 error RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have an application that uses OLE and Office automation with MS Outlook. The application scans incoming emails for particular attachments and saves the attachment to nominated folders.

This has worked successfully with Outlook 2003 for some years.

When running the application with Outlook 2010 (or 2007), attachments in “.zip” format are saved as before, but for attachments in “.asc” format (gpg encrypted text) the attachment is not saved and an error :

Error code at invocation of UnRead: 8002009
    Source: Microsoft Outlook
Error Description: The attempted operation failed. An object could not be found.

Press OK to terminate your application.

This happens using the Office 11 Object libraries and also using the Office 14 Object libraries.

Zip files are saved OK, but asc files throw this error?

    Please advise a solution.

  • I don't think I have ever seen that error:

      ERROR_DS_MEMBERSHIP_EVALUATED_LOCALLY                         winerror.h

What is relevant snippet of your code that causes this error?
