OEM format? RRS feed

I have an application that uses a serial port on the webserver to communicate with a GSM modem, which I use to send SMS, from this webapp. Since the app only is for Sweden, sometimes wierd characters will be used, as å,ä,ö for example. However the modem don't like this and replaces these chars with the char [. I've tried all sorts of encoding, but no dice.
I've talked to the modem distributor but they don't have a clue. The I ran into another developer who uses this modem and is able to send swedish chars. They said they had to convert the SMS message to OEM format in their (c++) application. What is OEM format, and how do I do this i C#?.

I don´t know how to convert to OEM with C#, but have a question:
    Did you try iso-8859-1?
It works for me for the most (haven´t programmed for a GSM modem though).
