Windows 7 / Windows 8.1 in a non MSDN Subscription RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Everyone. Virtual machine images for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 are available in the Azure virtual machine Gallery, but just for MSDN Subscriptions. Is it possible to upload Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 VHD to a normal Subscription (e.g. for Testing)? Thank you

  • Hi Gurjinder,

We do not have Windows 7/windows 8.1 for non MSDN subscriptions. It is available only for MSDN subscriptions and you cannot upload the VHD images to normal Azure subscriptions.

  • Hi Gurjinder,

The new Windows client images are for MSDN subscribers only. And they are meant to be used exclusively for application development and testing purposes, officials stressed.

It cannot be used on EA- Azure subscription.

  • Hi Girish,

thank you for the fast reply. Are there any reason, why its not possible, i know that Microsoft doesnt want any DaaS (Desktop as a Service). Our customer (EA-Azure Subscription) wanted to do some tests with client operating systems on Azure. Are there any workaround? Maybe support case?

    Thank you - Gurjinder
