Sound and Music extension RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have just reinstalled Windows 7 (64bit version) and I can't get the sound and music extension to work. I have installed smallbasic into c:\smallbasic and create the lib directory under this. I did this as I could not get the fremy extension to work if I installed smallbasic to program files or program files(x86). I use the fremy extension more than the sound and music, so if the sound and music need smallbaisc to be install under program files (because this is hard coded into them) then I would rather lose them than the fremy extension.

  • I don't think any extension should care where SmallBasic is installed as long as the extension is placed in the lib directory.  The 'Speech and Music' extension certainly doesn't have any hard coded reference to any installation directory; I doubt the Fremy one does (but I don't know for sure).  However, the 'Speech and Music' extension is compiled using DirectX, so some DirectX runtime libraries are needed (I don't know exactly what since I have DirectX SDK).

  • I think it is a 64bit problem as when I use the extensions in smal basic installed on windows 7 32bit then they work.
