different versions of VS 2008 RRS feed

    Orcas was the project name. VS2008 is the name it will be sold as next year. You want the latter link as it is Beta 2. The first link is for Beta 1.

    You were looking at Standard edition of Beta 2 and Professional edition of Beta 1. Professional edition/SKU has many more features than the standard edition does. There is also Express edition, which is even smaller, and contains only a single development evionment (e.g., Visual Web Developer Express or Visual C# Express). Finally, Visual Studio Team Suite is the most comprehensive edition, and it contains every single feature available in Visual Studio.

    I haven't been able to dig out SKU differences for VS 2008 (which is the same as codename "Orcas", as somone already replied), but here is a good matrix for VS 2005 that should give you a good idea of what you will get in each different edition:

    thanks a lot... thats a lot help full for understanding the things. one last thing the Beta 2 is only like 700 MB and Orcas as a whole is about 5 GB so will i need the beta 1 setup before using the beta2 ??
