  • Question

  • Hi all,

We are a service provider company looking into purchasing TFS 2015 Enterprise Edition on behalf of a client (server license) and installing it into client DEV environment. If I am not mistaken the purchase would come with 1 user CAL however we have 10 developers that all have MSDN Enterprise Subscriptions. So here are few questions:

    1. In this scenario would it be OK to use user CAL that come with MSDN Enterprise Subscriptions to connect to TFS 2015 server?

    2. We also have few other users that might need access to some of the features of TFS server but those users don't have MSDN subscriptions and some of those users are clients, do we need to purchase additional user CALs for those users?

    3. If we need to purchase/install additional CALs, how do we manage those user CALs (how does server know if Joe TheClient or John TheProvider is connected to the server)  or it doesn't matter?

    4. Please note that any software developed in the client DEV environment might eventually be migrated to other test environments and to production environment as well. How does this affect things?

    Regards,

    Dany
