A problem with WiFi IHV UI extension library in Windows 10 TP RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I know it's not strictly a WDK-related problem, but it's the closest forum I've found.

I have recently developed an IHV extensibility library and IHV UI library implementing a proprietary security algorithm. It works fine on Win 7, 8 and 8.1, but there's a problem on Windows 10.

The latter adds a new way for the user to connect to a WiFi network - through Internet&Network page of the new Settings application. Its GUI looks rather similar to the legacy connection panel. And when I select a network to connect to, my IHV library receives the pre-association notification as expected and as result, I send a request to the UI library to prompt the user to enter the password. Only in this case, unlike when the legacy connections panel is activated, my UI extensions library is not invoked at all.

The question is what can be done about it? Can I make sure my UI is activated in this case? Can it add a page to the new GUI rather than to the legacy one? Or even simpler than that, can I tell in the IHV library which way the connection was activated? Is the legacy connection panel displayed?

Thanks in advance and best regards!
