  • Hi cartoonmeister,

If your OS version is windows 8 or 8.1, you could do these steps to trun .net framework off.

"Control Panel"->"Programs"->"Turn Windows features on or off" and close ".NET Framework 4.5 Advanced Services".

If not, you could uninstall .Net Framework 4 through control panel.

Could you please share some screenshots about the issue?

Normally, .Net Framework 4 doesn't cause these issues.

And .Net Framework 4 is very important. Many application need .Net Framework 4 support.

I don't suggest you uninstall .Net Framework 4.0. You could use the .NET Framework Setup Verification Tool to verify the installation state of .NET Framework 4.0
    Download from :
    http://blogs.msdn.com/cfs-file.ashx/__key/CommunityServer-Components-PostAttachments/00-08-99-90-04/netfx_5F00_setupverifier_5F00_new.zip
If the verification tool finds any issues, there is a .NET Framework Repair Tool that can be found at the following locations:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2698555
More information is in the blog at the following locations.
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/10/13/8999004.aspx

If the repair tool can't solve it, please upload the verification log to https://skydrive.live.com/ and share the link here.

    Regards.
