What does CFURLError Domain error -3001.) mean?? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to download Bing Maps as my base my layer in ArcGIS 10 (I have Windows XP). But whenever I try to download the layer from the internet I get the message CFURLError Domain error -3001.) I guess there is no microsoft tech. support line? One person  said it was due to 5 extensions missing from my computer resulting in a software conflict, and then they were going to charge me $100 to tell me how to fix it. Screw that, can anyone tell me how to fix the problem so I can use bing maps as my base layer for a GIS project I am doing.

    best,

  • Sounds like an error in ArcGIS to me. Have you tried contacting them or posting on their support forum?

Can you use a tool like Fiddler to examine the network traffic and see what requests ArcGIS is trying to make? (I'm guessing that CFURLError means it's the URL of the tile requests that is the problem - I'd be very surprised if it that's anything to do with "extensions missing" from your computer ;)
