[PHP][Web Apps] Wordpress-based Website on Azure disappeared RRS feed

Answers

  • Hi Paolo,

I see that the Web App does exist, but only a blank page like you say.  AFAIK there is no logic on the Azure platform to remove Web Apps, databases, etc...  You might consider logging a case with Azure support to look more into this.  You can start with a Billing case to see if there are any Billing issues which may have impacted your Web App.

  • Thanks a lot for all replies and suggestions, which were useful to solve the problem. Actually, I opened a ticket with Azure and I was personally assisted, a step at a time, by a specialist. He asked for the disappeared site logs to be sent to him and analyzed. He found no fault or break with Azure service and suggested to check with Wordpress, maybe the plugins were interfering. I followed this advice and found out that in fact the very theme (named 'twentyfifteen')I had chosen for my blog apparently had been withdrawn or canceled without notice. I couldn't believe it. As soon as I picked up another theme the blog reappeared. The new theme doesn't exactly mirror the old one, though, and now I have to check up all the pages and make changes wherever are needed. I didn't really expect this jerk from Wordpress. Anyway, hope this information will be useful. Thanks again

  • I think it's important to clarify the nature of the issue. The following three things are very different from each other:

    1. The site got removed
    2. The site was not removed, but all the files were removed
    3. No files were removed (other than by owner), but for some reason the site got broken, and is now returning a blank page

We know it's not #1, since the site is still there.

Please use FTP or Kudu Console to check whether any of your files were deleted. This will help isolate between #2 and #3.

    thanks,
    David

  • Also, please check for a D:\home\LogFiles\php_errors.log file in your site, which could give hints if it's caused by a PHP error.
