  • We want to migrate the TFS 2010 Database to new SQL cluster. What, how and where would be the configuration changes or setting needs to be done from TFS side.

  • Hi,

    Thank you for posting here.

You seem to only want to move databases not TFS included. You could refer to this document below telling about separate TFS and database into 2 server. And your requirement is move TFS databases, some of the steps are telling about that.

    The key steps are:

    1. backup databases

    2. install sql server on new machine and restore dbs.

    3. Prepare sql for TFS using TFSConfig PrepSQL command

    4. redirect Team Foundation Server to its databases

The detailed steps are here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms404854(v=vs.100).aspx

  • Hi,

    Thanks for your reply.

Earlier we implemented following steps but was not successful.

    1.) Stopped all services.

    2.) Executed Command with reference of : TFSConfig RemapDBs /DatabaseName:ServerName;TFS_Configuration /SQLInstances:ServerName,ServerName2 /AnalysisInstance:ServerName2

But we got nothing as a result. Admin Console was Empty.

Could you please suggest some solution for this.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

You can't see anything in admin console and when you run the TFSConfig TFSConfig Command, have you seen any errors, could you please share them here?

Could you please try to restore your Tfs_Configuration database and run this command again .
