How do I limit where my apps can be downloaded? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have an app in the Store that I only wanted to be made available to residents of the USA so in the 'markets' section in the app submission process, I only checked the US box. Now, several weeks later, I see it's being downloaded all over the world, Vietnam, Germany, Australia, China, India etc. How does this process work and why is it available all over the world? I'm a little concerned because games for distribution in Taiwan need a game rating and instead of doing that, I just unticked the Taiwan box and re-submitted for my other apps. Are those apps still available for download in Taiwan?

    Anybody know the answer?

    Thanks

  • The market you see on the downloads page is the geography from where the download/acquisition happened. There may be times due to proxys or users with US as location setting accessing the US store but from a  different geography downloading the app resulting in the various markets you see there on the reports, even if you might not have released in that market.
