SQL 2008 - maintenance plan - changing backup location

Question
-
I am attempting to change the location of a database backup within a SQL maintenance plan (D:\backup\Citrix data store); but backups continue to go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Backup. Is a service reset needed to get this change to work or am I missing something else?

Hi Keith,
Is the problem solved by the steps above? To change the location of backup, you need to save the modification after the steps you have made. In other word, please try to press “Ctrl+S “ or click “Save Selected Items” under “File” menue after you finished the steps above. And execute the Maintenance Plan again to see whether the new location effect or not.
Please let me know if you have any question.

IF you edit the maint plan and change the backup location in there, then that change should be honired. If it isn't, then you aren't changing the right thing. We need more details. Also, check all Agent jobs, the one producing the backups might not the the one you expect...

I am doing the following:
- Loading MS SQL Management Studio.
- Expanding the Management snapin (Object Explorer).
- Double click on the Plan to be changd (Object Explorer).
- Double click the Back Up Database (Full) step in the plan (right hand pane).
- Under the radio button Creat a backup file for every database, Folder window I browse to the location of the desired new backup folder
- Press OK.
