  • How to read acknowldgement 997 or 999......what information do they provide.........what information do we get from them....how to correlate with the original files.

    can any one help me in this.

  • it acks the transactions, if it is hipaa transactions, the IG is at the back of every transaction set definition guide.

  • If you look at the Implementation Acknowledgement For 999, it will give you all the information you need. 

    Basically a 997 or a 999 gives you information about a failed transaction. In the 999 for example certain loops will give you information where the error occured. For example 999 Loop 2100 - AK2/IK3 will give you the error identification. Looking at the syntzx code of the IK304 of that segment will show you the error.

    ex:

    1- Unrecognized segment ID

    2- Unexpected segment

    3- Required Segment Missing

    4- Loop Occurs Over Maximum Times

    5- Segment Exceeds Maximum Use

    6- Segment Not in Defined Transaction Set

    7- Segment Not in Proper Sequence

    8- Segment Has Data Element Errors

    I4- Implementation “Not Used” Segment Present
