(User) prefix in DSS Control Panel RRS feed

  • Question

  • In the DSS Control Panel why do I have (User) WPF UI for Kinect and the same service without the (User)? What is the significance of the (User) prefix?

  • That's very confusing isn't it? :)

The "(User)" is prepended to names of services built from the Samples directory. These were built when you presumably ran BuildAllSamples.cmd. You're free to modify and rebuild these as you wish. That's why they're called "User".

The non-"(User)" instances are from the binaries that ship with RDS and aren't replaced when you rebuild.

    Hope that helps!
