Packaging a VSTO Addin - Is there a way to automate this? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Does anyone know of any good build tool to use for building .net VSTO addins?  Currently we manually build our install file and there is high possibility of error doing it this way.  Currently we have to find and replace fields for different environments and modify versioning, etc.  I am a java developer that moved over to .net.  I know for java we have build tools such as Ant and Maven.  I would appreciate any help or guidance.  I am currently developing in Visual Studio 2010.

Another question is that I have SOA service Url's in about 37 different files and I have to do a find replace for each environment I deploy to.  Is there a way to automate this?  I want to replace part of the URL .

  • .net world has its counterparts of java tools (like NAnt) however current 'fashion' is to move away from xml based languages for more flexible tools like psake (counterpart of rake in powershell). VSTO does not change here anything.
