Training Room Setup RRS feed

  • Question

  • What are my options in setting up a training room for 10 -12 people?

It will be running XP and some third party software that the user will be trained on. I will only be running maybe 10-15 of these training courses a year and would rather get a single high spec server with a Virtual PC setup that I can use for other things when there is no training.

Do I have to get 10 PC's installed or is there some way to setup a server with Virtual PC on it running 10 sessions of Windows XP?

If I can use Virtual PC then how would I connect 10 monitors, 10 mice and 10 keyboards to the server? Is there a special adapter used?

Any help you can offer would be much appreciated.

  • Virtualizing your training environment is the way to go...

I dont think you can create a 10 Virtual PC sessions on a server and just use KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) for the guest/training users.

    Option 1

You will still need computers for every user individually, and copy the Virtual PC image on each of these machine.

    Option 2

Dont know if this is possible in virtual PC (probably no), but you can have a citrix client run off a browser (still need a computer for every user)
