VM works however DisplayStatus stucks on Creating RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I created VM from previously captured image from PowerShell using New-AzureRmVM:

       ...

       $result = New-AzureRmVM -ResourceGroupName $resourceGroupName -Location $location -VM $vm

The last command never end...I was waiting for a few hours. However VM was created.

Currently my VM is running OK however I see still Display Status: Creating

The question is: why this status is still Creating? What kind o problems I could get of this?

    See below:

    PS C:\> $vm = Get-AzureRmVM -ResourceGroupName IN-POZ-Servers -Name IsCheck1 -status
    PS C:\> $vm.Statuses

    Code          : ProvisioningState/creating
    DisplayStatus : Creating
    Level         : Info

    Code          : PowerState/running
    DisplayStatus : VM running

  • Hi SK,

Have you checked the Status of the VM in the Azure Portal?
    Where there is
    Code          : ProvisioningState/creating
    DisplayStatus : Creating

Just below that the status also shows
    Code          : PowerState/running
    DisplayStatus : VM running

Is this for 2 different VMs or the same VM?
If its for the same VM, is there a timestamp on the 2 different statuses?
Is this for all your VMs or just this one?
When you say "Currently my VM is running OK however I see still Display Status: Creating", do you mean you are able to RDP to the VM successfully?
If yes, you could try restarting the VM to check if that changes the status.

    Regards,
    Malar.
