To GAC or not to GAC - That is the question RRS feed

  • Hi All

I have a general question and was wondering what advice any of you may have.

I have written a .NET wrapper for the FBWF API (thanks to Sean Liming for his help) and now was wondering if I should install this assembly into the GAC. I have more than one program on my embedded system that requires the use of this assembly, and so to me it seems the best place to put it may be the GAC. But, if you Google the use of the GAC it seems to be recommended that it is best to avoid this and to just put this assembly along with each program (admittedly this seems to be for programs deployed to client systems)

What say you all about best practice with this? GAC or not?

If the answer is GAC then I will be back with the best method to achieve this ;-)

    Thanks in advance

    Steve

  • No opinion here, but you might also want to ask on one of the .NET forums to get a more focused response.
