Attached Database to a different Web Apps RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

Need some input.  I currently have a database (TEST_Project).  In it, it has only ONE site collection call pwa (http://test.mydomain.com/products/pwa).

Now, I have created a new web application (http://project.mydomain.com/).  I detached the above database and attached (see command below) it to this new web app.  However, when I go to View Site Collection, it is empty.  What am I missing?  Do I need "products" there?  Please help.

    "stsadm -o addcontentdb -databasename TEST_Project -url http://project.mydomain.com/"

  • Do you currently have any other content databases attached to the project.mydomain.com Web App?

FYI, the equiv PowerShell command would be:

    Mount-SPContentDatabase TEST_Project -WebApplication http://project.mydomain.com

  • Hey Trevor,

Thanks for the comment.  I figure out why the site collection view was empty for Project web apps.  I am able to attach database now and see the site collection (/products/pwa) under http://project.mydomain.com.  However, notice that it is under the "products" path.  However can I make it so that it is http://project.mydomain.com/pwa?

Test this first.  There may be consequences with regards to Project Server.

  • Thanks Trevor.  I was hope I don't have to do that as I have used this approach in the past but with mixed results.

Looks like I am stucked.  Thanks for your comment.
