usage of x64 mode RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear Visual studio users.

I would like ta ask a question about building and running in x64 mode.

Although i change in the configuration manager to x64 bit mode, and enable allocation  of more than two 2GB variables, by the associated options, my program runs to an insufficient virtual memory error, while close to 4GB , i.e. as it was in 32 bit mode.

I am using windows & 64-bit professional with 8GB of RAM.

    Thanks in advance.

  • choosing the 64 bit mode only means that your program can now access memory addresses much much greater than while in 32 bit mode & this does NOT mean / assure the actual "allocation".

you need to optimize your program to use the least memory possible! also check for memory leaks.

    hope this helps!
