VSTO remove worksheet support old version RRS feed

  • Question

  • I’m developing an application in EXCEL VSTO click once,

I removed a worksheet from the .xlsm file,

    This worksheet had vsto elements.

When I publish a new version

If the user is trying to open the .xlsm file of the old version(contains the worksheets I removed from the new version)

The file loads OK, but the elements from the VSTO are missing in the worksheet I removed.

Probably it happened because the class of this sheet doesn’t exist in the new setup installation.

If I try to insert the class of the worksheet (without the worksheet) the installation fails.

What should I do in order to support the old version?

  • Hi R123456789123456,

Thank you for posting in the MSDN Forum.

I’m developing an application in EXCEL VSTO click once,

Is your project an Excel Add-in project or an Excel document-level customization?

I removed a worksheet from the .xlsm file, this worksheet had vsto elements.

Could you please create a simple sample project and upload it? It based on my experience that only Excel workbook project and template project are available in VS, so I'm not quite sure where the .xlsm come. Besides, I've no idea what you mean by elements, do you mean controls, say buttons? You can upload it to SkyDrive make it accessible and then share the link. It might be helpful for troubleshooting.

I look forward to your reply.

    Best regards,
