CustomTaskPane Objects in Office 2007 - But Not Yet Off VB 6 RRS feed

  • Question

  • We're heading that way, but we're not yet into VS .Net / VSTO technologies - however, we would still like to be able to do some things in the Office 2007 suite with CustomTaskPane objects.

    Per http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa433850.aspx (and I quote):

"You can create custom task panes in any language that supports COM and allows you to create dynamic-linked library (DLL) files. For example, Microsoft Visual Basic® 6.0, Microsoft Visual Basic .NET, Microsoft Visual C++®, Microsoft Visual C++ .NET, and Microsoft Visual C#®. However, Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) does not support creating custom task panes. "

However, we haven't been able to find any examples or 'how-to's on 1) creating CustomTaskPanes with VB 6 or 2) how to integrate them - once created - into Office 2007 apps (our primary interest is in Excel 2007 and Word 2007).

Anyone have any tips, pointers, examples on how to do these?  Thanks in advance...
