Submission Failure - Phone Call In Restricted Market RRS feed

  • We submitted our application and received the following reason for submission failure:

    Phone Call In Restricted Market: 2000.5 Phone Call In Restricted Market

    The phonecall capability cannot be used in the application since it targets restricted markets (China). Please contact your premier support representative, or email winprisup@microsoft.com.

    ==================

    We bring up the dialer when a phone number is clicked.  We don't just make the call.  

    Why would phone call capability not be allowed in China?  We do this on all other versions of our app and never had any issues having that feature present for China.  Where does the restriction come from?  And if it is a real issue then how do we support the feature for all other markets but not China?

  • The email address in the error report responded with instructions and a document to declare how the feature was being used.  Once we submitted the document the enabled our app for the feature in the restricted market.

    Was pretty easy, just slowed down the submission by a day.  One time issue so no big deal.

  • Hello,

    Some capabilities offer access to a sensitive resource to apps, which are considered sensitive since they can access the user’s personal data. So it’s necessary that your app doesn’t assume a sensitive resource is always available.

    More info, please see App capability declarations.   

    I think you’re supposed to resubmit your app based on the feedback from the email, and I would like to suggest you to add notes for certification to let the tester know that your app doesn't make the call.

    Also, another option is to create a request here through your developer account so that we may assist you best.
