How can I find the <div> tag that is not closed? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have several long pages on my websites, some of which have the </div> and </body> tags colored yellow. When I hover the mouse pointer over them I see the message - "The <div> tag was not closed before this </div> tag."

Is there a quick way in Expression Web 4 to find the problem and solve it?

  • It's up to you to find it.  Work in Split View and go through your page, highlighting each div (click in Design View, and then click on the quick tag selector to select the corresponding div) while looking in Code View, and spot when the div you selected doesn't contain the content you expect.  When you correct a problem, check Code View for errors again - if it's a simple missing end tag, it might be straight forward, but if you've interleaved starting and ending tags of multiple elements in incorrect ways, it may be a problem requiring multiple passes to fix.
