Help needed : Sonar Q on micosoft platform RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

As per as we know, .NET Framework 4.5 and later versions are not supported on Windows XP. Windows Vista, Windows 7 and later versions of Windows in 64 bit OS are the bare minimum requirement.

Please suggest what can we do in this case -

    Please see below our findings.

    1. To Analyze .Net projects using SonarQube, System needs to have following Components
     1.1. sonarqube-5.1.2 for running server
     1.2  sonar-csharp-plugin-4.2.jar is plug-in for C#.net Project
1.3  MSBuild.SonarQube.Runner.exe and related dll for Analyzing .Net Project

    2. Component 1.1. and 1.2 is successfully installed on local system

    3. To run MSBuild.SonarQube.Runner.exe, .Net Framework 4.5 is required on local machine.  But we cannot install .net Framework 4.5 on windows XP (service Pack 3)
Supported Operating System for .Net Framework 4.5 (https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=30653)
Windows 7 Service Pack 1, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2, Windows Vista Service Pack 2
     Windows Vista SP2 (x86 and x64)
     Windows 7 SP1 (x86 and x64)
     Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 (x64)
     Windows Server 2008 SP2 (x86 and x64)

    1.  Do we ave any workaround on this?
    2. If Not then please suggest the below query

If we want to try out Sonar Q on Microsoft .Net Framework 4.5, can we explore on Microsoft Azure environment ? ( If It is free for 1 month.) For the POC, can we take any sample code and analyze?

Any other way to use this.?

    Thanks,

    Riya

  • "To run MSBuild.SonarQube.Runner.exe, .Net Framework 4.5 is required on local machine.  But we cannot install .net Framework 4.5 on windows XP (service Pack 3)"

Why not just upgrade the OS on your local machine to Win 7 SP1 or newer?

BTW, "Windows 7 and later versions of Windows in 64 bit OS are the bare minimum requirement. " is not correct. You can use the 32 bit version(s) as well.

  • Hi Riyu0810,

As pvdg42 said, you could consider to upgrade your OS to Windows 7 SP1.

Refer to here about how to install windows 7 service pack 1: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/install-windows-7-service-pack-1

    Best Regards,

Does Microsoft provide this Microsoft Azure environment free for 1 month and can we install Sonar Q on this?

You can ask about Azure in the forums here:
