SSMA for Sybase Migration Performance RRS feed

  • Question

  • Migration Gurus,

Can you please share your experience with migrating Sybase using SSMA? What I am looking for is:

    - The largest database you have migrated (size/no of objects)

    - End-to-end migration time including schema conversion, code modification, data migration

    - Data migration time

    - Size of largest table and time taken to migrate it

    Appreciate your input.

    Thanks,

    Unvar

  • Hello,

On databases of around 50 GB in size or greater I would recommend you to set rows per batch in SSMA to 5,000. This will avoid timeouts during migration of tables with more than 10 million records.

I have seen migration speed is 5 minutes per 10 million records on big tables with significant number of columns.

    Hope this helps.
