Pictures in Windows Phone App

Question

I am developing a windows phone application and I want to use some landscape pictures to improve the user interface. The UI consists of some checkboxes, textblocks and text boxes, it doesn't have to do with pictures at all. I have two questions:

First: Is it nice for a windows phone application to have pictures in the background or should I just leave it black?

Second: Where can I find pictures that are not copyright protected or pictures that I don't have to pay to get? I suppose just copying pictures from Google is not the right job.

First: it is nolmar if you have picture in the background (many apps have picture in bg)
Second: you may download some picture in free stock photography (for ex. http://www.freedigitalphotos.net/ etc.)
