VS2015 SDV Problem - fatal error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'xxx.h' RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a driver that compiles without errors when using the usual Build.

I cannot use SDV (Static Driver Verifier) because it fails to compile under SDV. The error I get is: EXEC : Build warning : C:\****\vvvv.h(63): fatal error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'xxx.h': No such file or directory

    I use VS2015 Community v14.0.24620.00 Update 1 . I also have VS2010 and VS2013 installed on my machine.

The driver is compiled Platform toolset "WindowsKernelModeDriver10.0" and target Platform Version 10.0.10240.0

    Any idea?

  • Unfortunately, there are conflicts when more than one Visual Studio is installed, such that SDV does not work.  This occurred with VS2013 and was supposed to be fixed with VS2015 but somehow the bug slipped through.

  • First thing to check is that none of the code files in the solution are set as read-only.

I've seen some problems with multiple versions of VS installed that can cause the problem, but it was supposed to be fixed with Win 10 WDK.

  • No. It isn't read only. I set an explicit path and THIS problem was solved. I don't think the tool should force ugly coding. Naturally, I'm now at the next compilation error. Will post it soon.
