Highlight a key in Touch Keyboard

    Question

  • Is it possible to highlight a specific key in the Touch Keyboard ?

Details - We are developing a windows 8 app. The app is localized. When a user taps on an editable text box, the user preferred language keyboard comes up. The user is supposed to type in a particular text. Since, the user may not be familiar with the touch keyboard, in the initial stages, we would want to guide the user on how to type using the touch keyboard. This requires, highlighting a specific key on the touch keyboard. When the user taps on the key, we proceed to highlighting the next key.

    Is this possible ?

  • No, the touch keyboard is not customizable like that. It's an interesting idea though!

  • Thanks. It would be nice to have this feature. Since,

    1. Most of our customers would be using soft keyboard for the first time.

    2. There are few changes to soft key locations compared to physical keyboard.

We were using soft keyboard for Indian Languages. I specifically tried with Kannada/Hindi.
