  • Hi,

Glad to hear your happy to solve Vista problems and hope you can help with this one.
It's my main anoyance with Vista and hope theres a solution

Issue: When connecting to different wireless networks with the same SSID Vista's "Connect to a network", window says:
The settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirement of the network

Workaround: remove the wireless network from your profile manager and re-create it with settings of the new wireless network you are connecting to.

History: I used to use the Intel Proset mamangemnt utility with my XP enviroment and it worked fine.
Because it allows you to specify a profile name (seperate from the SSID) it would allow multiple same name SSID's
You can also specify which network to connect to if Proset chose the wrong one.
Most the time proset would decide the correct wireless network although they all had the same SSID

Reason: I run a PC support business and I like to advertise by naming my clients wireless network "My Company name"
I have setup 30-40+ networks like this.

Solution Needed: I cannot find a solution other than using a 3rd party Wi-Fi manager.
Ideally I'd like Vista to handle this or use the Intel proset mamanger but in Vista this seems combined with Vista's management.

    I'm grateful for any support

    TIA

    Damian
