Searchable DVD RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I want to make Telephone Directory on DVD which sould be searchable. Is there any way to achieve this without installing the database on users PC.
The database sould be on dvd only and nobody should be able to copy that.

Which database could fulfill my requirements?

    Hope I am clear.

    Regards,

  • If indexing services is active on the client machines you can do this:

If not you might have to make a chm or hxs (compiled help file).

  • Thanks for reply.

But I could not exactly figure out the solution.

I will once again try to exaplin the scenario, DVDs will be given to users who dont have internet connection so they can search telephone numbers on DVD.

Now what I have thought is to choose any database like MS SQL Compact, SQL Lite which doesn't need to install on system so that can be burned on DVD.

The database size could go upto 3-4 GB. so will chm or hxs file work efficiently?

This is just an idea, will this work? Please suggest.

    Hope I am clear.

  • SQL CE does not support full-text search. It might work with pure sql properly indexed.
