Mirroring with multiple versions and multiple Instances RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I would like to build a server with an instance of SQL Server 2008 R2 and and instance of SQL Server 2005.  I would like to mirror databases on these instances to another server.  Is this possible?  I was going to use the same versions/editions for mirroring.  For example, I would install SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise and mirror to the SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise.  Let me know any caveats.  Thank you.

  • Hello Beth,

I do have the same environment you are describing and it works well. You can also have ,let say, 3 servers acting as principal and 1 server with 3 sql instances acting as mirror. This also works fine
