BizTalk 2016 Feature Pack-3 installation error RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I tried installing BizTalk 2016 Feature Pack 3 on one of my test machines. The test machine already has BizTalk 2016 with CU5 installed. I get an error with Custom Action failure. When I scanned the log file I see below:

    [03/07/19 11:54:44] Apply patch: Server="SQL Server\Instance1", Database="BizTalkMgmtDb", Script="C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft BizTalk Server 2016\Schema\BTS_Administration_Logic.sql".
    [03/07/19 11:54:44] dataSource.Open HRESULT=0
    [03/07/19 11:54:44] session.Open HRESULT=0
    [03/07/19 11:54:44] file.Open HRESULT=0
    [03/07/19 11:54:44] Processing... HRESULT=0
    [03/07/19 11:54:45] ExecuteCommand HRESULT=0x80040e14
[03/07/19 11:54:45] Text for 'adm_removesprocs' is missing from the system catalog. The object must be dropped and re-created before it can be used. HRESULT=0x80040e14

Now my BizTalk installation is corrupted and I can't open BizTalk group, since there are around 80 stored procedures missing from the management database.

Interestingly I can see FP3 being installed in control panel. I tried uninstalling the FP3 but that doesn't help.

Does anyone has any suggestions on how to fix my BizTalk installation? I don't want to reconfigure everything.

    Regards

  • I've posted advice before about not mixing Feature Packs & CUs, although it was more to to avoid installing a Feature Pack with a earlier CU than already installed, or a not installing a CU after a Feature Pack, as both of those have caused issues.  I would have though installing a Feature Pack with either the same or a later CU should work.

Have you tried running the BizTalk install again and selecting Repair?

  • Hi Colin,

Yes, I have tried to repair but that didn't help.

Finally I gave up and trying to re-configure BizTalk again. I will make sure to your advise into consideration the next time I install the feature pack.
