  • Question

  • I'm contemplating embracing the cloud, I think it would be great to run a UK instance of our website+database, and one US instance - giving the majority of the site's viewers nice nearby locations to view from i.e. super speedy

My question is, how do I manage one database between the two locations? This is a gap in my cloud knowledge - i could implement some kind of memcached style local caching in the UK and US locations - but one of them is going to have to come back to a central database to populate that cache (e.g. US -> UK) which is bound to be slow - is there a simple architectural piece of the puzzle that i'm failing to see?

    Many thanks,

    HC

Edit: The US/UK split was suggested to me and seems reasonable - looking around though i can find absolutely zero documentation about a geographically split cloud - is it even feasible??
