Referencing the URI RRS feed

  • Question

  • My app store the image path in database and the image in the documents folder. If I am retrieving and showing it in the gridview, how do I reference it in the URI scheme ? Thanks.

    Thanks, Smiths

  • There are no URIs for the documents folder. You will need to access items programmatically via a StorageFile.

  • Which means I have to set the location, cause I want it to dynamically populate out. Or is there other way to store and retrieve with no problem ?

    Thanks, Smiths

You cannot use URIs for local files outside of your install (ms-appx) and application data (ms-appdata) folders.

  • There is a "Samples" link at the top of this page that has many samples. There are also examples in the documentation here.

Search for file access and you'll find  File access sample (Windows 8)

  • Rob, I managed to do it. But sometime it won't display. Why?

    Thanks.

  • It's going to take troubleshooting to figure out why sometimes an image does not appear. My recommendation is that you start a new thread and post the actual data that you are using so we can look at it.

NOTE: If I ask for code, please provide something that I can drop directly into a project and run (including XAML), or an actual application project. I'm trying to help a lot of people, so I don't have time to figure out weird snippets with undefined objects and unknown namespaces.
