Dataset setup/SQL Permissions RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am able to create a datasource/dataset for the reportviewer through Visual Studio, but my co-worker can't.  I'm using stored procedures to create the dataset.  I've given the co-worker the following rights to the SP.

    grant execute
    grant alter
    deny take ownership
    grant view definition

For some reason the co-worker can only see the sp, but not the returned values/fields during the setup like I can.   I believe this is the same permissions I have previously given someone in the past and they were able to do it.  The only difference I can think of is that in the past we were using sql 2005 and now we are using sql 2008.

    Any ideas?

  • What exactly is the behavior for you an your coworker? Your should include WHERE is the database being accessed (which machine, SSExpress, in-project, etc) and where it's being accessed (which machine, same machine as yours? etc), and any ERRORS you're seeing at run time.

For example: "VS on Machine A works when connecting to DB on Machine A", and so on.
