On Connect and Activate Events in Access RRS feed

  • Question

  • When this application was written it was with Access 2.0

We have been trying to keep up with Microsoft but it has been very difficult.

For some reason the application will not work with Office 365.  The last time it worked was with Windows 8.1 and Office 2007.

The problem it has created is extremely Serious!

Can someone please explain what the difference are and if they know what change should I make.  I moved everything to the On Connect event and nothing happens, the Activate Event keeps firing, in the old application it only fired once.

Any help on this will be very appreciated.

    Thanks  VDSV

  • Straight out of the help file:

    Form.OnConnect event (Access)
Occurs when the specified PivotTable view connects to a data source.

Is that the case here? Neither A2 and A365 support pivot tables.

  • I am not sure, when we go to the form in testing mode nothing happens.  I think you may be right.  I guess what is so upsetting is with 365 we have payed a lot of money to change things and most things have gotten worse.  The data that is fed in comes from an airplane threw an ODBC while in flight.

We did use a real time compiler in the past and now they say it is not necessary.

  • So far this does not make much sense to me. I have been working with Access since the beginning and upgrades have usually been very painless. You may need to hire the necessary talent to get your issues resolved. Moving code from one event to another without knowing what those events do is not the solution.

  • I have been away a while and just got called back.  I like you have also been around sine the beginning and this is the first time I have encountered a problem like this and that has me confused also.

I all honesty most of the people in my city come to me for help, so i am stumped.
