Application Insights pricing when using Azure Functions RRS feed

  • Question

  • How is pricing for Application Insights determined/calculated when using Azure Functions and Azure Logic Apps since there isn't a set number of nodes. I read the pricing involves nodes but wasn't clear if that was just on the Enterprise pricing only.  Would the pricing be determined by how much data gets pumped into Application Insights if I am on the basic pricing?

Answers

  • This is actually still an Application Insights question, but based on the Application Insights pricing page, the number of nodes is only relevant for Enterprise pricing.

Do you still need information about node calculation for Azure Functions and Logic Apps?

  • Hello,

    Greetings from Microsoft Azure.

Please check the FAQs in the Application Insights pricing page for details about calculation of nodes.

    In regards to Azure Functions,

Azure Functions has two kinds of pricing plans, choose the one that best fits your needs:

      • Consumption plan - When your function runs, Azure provides all of the necessary computational resources. You don't have to worry about resource management, and you only pay for the time that your code runs.
      • App Service plan - Run your functions just like your web, mobile, and API apps. When you are already using App Service for your other applications, you can run your functions on the same plan at no additional cost.

Full pricing details are available on the Functions Pricing page. For more information about scaling your functions, see How to scale Azure Functions.

    Hope this helps !!!

  • That doesn't really answer the question.  The definition of a "node" as it pertains to Application Insights when using the consumption plan could potentially use 1000s of nodes.  Does Application Insights just charge based on consumption and it just treats functions, when in consumption plan, as 1 node?
