Problem with dual boot

    Question

  • I have dual boot Windows 7 and Windows 8. Before, everything worked fine, but now Windows 7 doesn't load. Here's what happenned:

     1. I turned off my computer

     2. I turned on my computer

     3. Boot in Windows 8

     4. Warn to reboot my computer to repair system errors

And then... when I try to turn on my computer, the disk check runs and when I choose Windows 7 it doesn't load, the disk check runs again and again...

What can I do to repair this? ( I already tried change the default in the boot, in msconfig... also to reset, but nothing )

  • hi there,

maybe you could list the entries to find out what went wrong (if it s not simply a hardware failure), using bcdedit.

you can also try a repair, booting on the Win8 media to try to fix the boot loader if it is damaged.

Dual boot is always a risk, and never the best way to go with preview/betas, even if it is very tempting...

    keep us posted,

    Pierre.

I heartily recommend using a third party boot manager such as the excellent and inexpensive BootIt BM. I have never ever had any trouble with it, and I installed Windows 8 in exactly the same way as I installed every other Windows OS.
