Can you use different editions of SharePoint 2010 together? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I wanted to know if someone could answer this question; Can I install different versions of SharePoint and use them together in the same farm?  I.e. Could I push workflows, data etc from an Enterpise installation to a standard installation?

  • When you say farm, you say Configuration Database which stores common things between all servers in the farm including each server capabilities which includes the features that come with each edition. So you can't use 1 farm (1 Configuration database) with multiple SharePoint editions.

  • Not in the same farm. Actually, you have the bits there - it's only the license that activates certain features.
